Server busy problem when creating a new project in Xcelsius with New Spreadsheet

Server busy
This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "Switch P" to activate the busy program and correct the problem

Reason: Compatibility Checker feature is enabled in Excel.

When Xcelsius program tries to import the excel file then excel.exe program is invoked which in turn invokes another excel.exe for Compatibility Checker feature. So Xcelsius is waiting for excel.exe to finish the task.

So, when you got the message Server Busy when importing the Excel file, do as following to resolve it:
1. Open the Windows Task Manager.
2. Go to Applications tab and look for task Microsoft Excel - Compatibility Check and double click on it. This action will bring you to the small windows of Excel which alerts you about the compatibility check of the Excel file. When the original Excel file was saved with some incompatibility features then embedded Excel in Xcelsius throws the exception but the windows did not display properly.
3. Click button Continue to process the import.
4. Go back to Xcelsius and click Switch To or Retry button to import the Excel sheet.

To revert your Xcelsius model to an earlier version of Xcelsius, you can simply update the XLF file as follows;

1. Backup your XLF file
2. Rename your XLF file to a ZIP file
3. Open the ZIP file and copy document.xml to your file system
4. Edit the XML file and update the following tag; version=”x.x” for the version you want to revert to. In my instance I am updating it from 6.0 to 5.3 as I am using Xcelsius 2008 SP3
5. Copy document.xml back into the ZIP file
6. Rename the ZIP file back to a XLF file

If you are using any components that are not part of the earlier release these will not work and remember that updating the XLF file is an UNSUPPORTED action.
